Our family likes to celebrate summer by spending long, endless days at the beach. We load our SUV with everything except our kitchen sink and stay until the sun sets. We fire up the barbecue, we play games, we drink yummy summer concoctions, and we spend time with family.

My favorite summer memory is going on our annual family summer vacations as a child. We would usually go camping, go to Seaworld, or to other amusement parks and also visit family in other states.

We started this when I was about 8 and continued to go every year, even with my kids, my brother and his family and my parents up till last year. That’s for over 40 years now. This year is the first year we’re not going because we lost my Mom and my Dad doesn’t really want to go. But those years at the beach, really are wonderful memories.

The summer of 2006 my brother got out of the Marines. He was stationed in San Diego at the time. My husband and I flew out there, then we took two weeks driving back home to FL. We stopped several places along the way to spend a few days and see the sites, including Las Vegas and New Orleans. It was just such a fun road trip with my two favorite guys.
