If I’m part of a group and the conversation turns to pranks, jokes and horseplay, I never have much of anything to offer. I’m not a fan of pranks. I don’t like to be embarrassed, or to embarrass others.
But there was this one time…
In my early twenties, I was a restaurant server. It was hard work, I think everyone should have to do it for six months. Anyhow, we had a microphone in our alley (the area of the kitchen where you’d make beverages, pick up salads and breadsticks, and grab the entrees) that was used to call for items that needed to be restocked. You’d hear a lot of requests for “Back up salad” during the night. Well, the veteran servers used to ask the new hires to call for the items. The new hire would grab the microphone not knowing that someone had placed a small container of water on top of the microphone. When they’d grab the microphone, the water would fall and splash them.
Not very funny. But the only real “prank” that I can recall ever being a part of.
Are you a champion prankster?
