I think I mentioned this before, but in case you missed it…I am one of the cool kids now! I finally have a MacBook Pro!
It is amazing how intuitive it is. It is also amazing how different it is from a PC. Since it arrived on my doorstep in July, I’ve become more comfortable using it and I no longer feel like it’s going to break if I touch it. One of my goals is to expand my technical skills and gain experience with more programs.
Like most moms, I am the family photographer. As I take more photographs, I want to feel more comfortable using Photoshop and other editing software programs. I don’t have time to sit in a classroom – when would I blog?! – so when I discovered Lynda.com, you can imagine that I was beyond thrilled.
Lynda.com is an online learning platform with over 1,300 courses on a variety of topics. It’s amazing how much content is readily accessible. I am so excited to learn at my own pace in a comfortable setting (you know, in my yoga pants!). Lynda.com makes it easy to find what you’re looking for – they’ve organized the courses by topic and level of difficulty! I love that I’ll be able to progress through the various modules and build on what I’ve already learned. The set up brings me back to college, minus the late night “study” groups!
Through Lynda.com, I’ll be able to hone my photo editing skills, improve my WordPress knowledge, and take a few Search Engine Optimization courses. (I just squealed a little bit. Didn’t you?!) If you’re a busy mom like me, you can access your courses through the Lynda.com iPhone app! The app syncs with your online account, so there is no worrying about where you left off in a particular course. The app allows you to search for courses and add them to your queue. I often find myself with a few “extra” minutes before school pick up, I’m excited to know that I’ll be able to take my learning with me!
I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you once I finish my first few courses. With Lynda.com, you receive completion certification for each course- I love that. I’ll be sharing those with you, too!
