Morning Motivates Me

14 Flares 14 Flares ×

I have always been an early riser. I love getting up when the world is still quiet. When you seem to have the entire planet to yourself.

Morning Motivates Me

Watching the sun pop over the horizon, hearing the birds chip, drinking a cup of coffee alone. Ah, that’s the beauty of getting up early.

I use the time to make lunch for The Boy on school days, catch up on email messages, write blog posts, read the news, and just enjoy a little alone time. Once The Boy’s feet hit the floor, he’s going at speeds that could break the sound barrier.

The morning holds the promise of a new day. Anything can happen, as long as you encourage it.

Is there a particular time of day that you’re most productive? Has this changed over the years?

  1. When I was younger (pre-kids) I was always most energetic and productive late at night, when pregnant with my oldest, I found that mid afternoon I was always on the go! Now with the kids in school, I’m up early and energetic, just not productive and I get my second wind once they get home from school, I believe I get a little excited for them to be home and that is where the burst of energy comes from; it gets lonely in the house all by myself sometimes!

  2. I’m pretty productive at night time. Mostly because I am trying to delay going to bed.

  3. I find that I feel most productive at night, but get the most done in the morning right after my son goes to school. Still, night time is when I do my best thinking.

  5. Midday was probably a more productive time than it is now.

I hit a wall at 2 pm. and a second wind in the evening, but mornings are my most productive time (not by choice lol)

  6. Since I work full time, my only productive time is in the evening after the kids are in bed. However, they both get up super early (even on weekends) so we are up and at ‘em before dawn most days.

  7. Mornings are great! Sunrises… fresh starts… new opportunities… and if you get up early enough, QUIET. Gotta love it!

  8. I wish I were more of a morning person. I’ve always been a night owl but I’d rather get my work done during the day so I’m not at the computer so much after my husband gets home. Something to work on in 2013!

  10. I admit that sometimes when I get to bed on time and wake up in the morning if its nice out (don’t like the cold winter) I get up and go outside and sit on the porch and enjoy the chirping birds and the sun rising for the start of a beautiful day…I’m ready for Spring! Great blog :)

  11. Like you I am also a morning person. I love having a little me time. I drink my coffee, read emails and blogs. It is my chance to get things done that I can’t get done once the kids are up and moving.

  12. I think it would have to be morning for me as well. Mid-afternoon is horrid, and in the evening after a long day all I want to do is relax :)

  13. My mind works best in the morning or early afternoon. I seem to get the most done if I get up pretty early and do all the things that need thinking first…then I can do all the other things (housework) later after my mind gets all tired out.

It works pretty well. When my hubby isn’t home anyway.

  14. Bill Elliott says:

I got most done in the morning after I wake up.till around noon then I take a break then keep going until it gets dark then it’s time to relax. The key is to eat 3 meals a day especially brekafast.

  15. Elizabeth says:

For me, my productive time depends on what I’m trying to get done. Mornings are good for me if I need to check things off my to-do list. Later at night is good for me if I’m trying to do something creative like work on writing fiction, or, when I was in college, late at night was good for me to write papers. It’s just sad to me that late nights and early mornings don’t go together too well…so I often seem to be at war between the creative side and the to-do list side of my life. ;)

    • That’s so true, Elizabeth. I love the time in the morning, but also find that between 2am-4am I can be quite creative and energized. That isn’t conducive to good rest – or living with other people!

  16. I like to wake up early too. There’s just something about the peace that helps me think.

  18. Ahhh, a morning person, I hiss and shy away. Actually you are lucky, it makes it easy to be a morning person. The world already revolves around your scheduled.

  19. monday mornings are most motivating … helps start the week on a good note.

  20. I enjoy mornings but early evening has always been my most energetic time of day!

  21. Jennifer Appleton says:

I find that I’m most productive at night… I’m NOT a morning person! If I’m trying to get housework done, I do my best in the late morning/early afternoon… But for everything else it’s late at night – and I’ve been that way for most of my life! Haha

  22. Michelle Smith says:

I wish I could be a morning person. My husband is a morning person, I’m a night person. I could stay up all night and get everything done perfectly, if only I could sleep til noon the next day! LOL. I’ve gotten to be more of a morning person since I’ve had children, thankfully I make lunches the night before, clean up after everyone has gone to bed, made sure backpacks are ready and breakfast is ready for them the next morning. So I still get to sleep in until 6:30am. Hubby on the other hand can roll out of bed, happy as a clam at 5am on a Saturday. Ugh, envy.

  23. Nancy Jachcik says:

Seems like the only time morning motivates me is when I am away on vacation! Otherwise I am very sluggish and my energy just builds up during the day. Afternoon is my most ambitious and motivating time of day.

  24. I think I’m a late-morning person, if there is such a thing. If I get up really early, I’m usually too tired to be productive. On the other hand, sleeping in too late leaves me feeling sluggish. I do best around 9am to 11am.

  25. I’m most productive in the afternoon/early evening. Unfortunately my work expects me to be more productive at 8 am

  26. I am generally a morning person. I do my best in the morning. If I don’t get enough sleep that night prior though, I can’t seem to get going and the whole day is a waste. Lately kids’ school projects have kept me up more than anything. Need to find a way to get us all in bed sooner!
