Random Act of Kindness

5 Flares 5 Flares ×

Are Random Acts of Kindness really random? I think of them as conscious choices that I am making to become generous and kind to others. The recipient may feel that my act of kindness is random, and I hope that makes their day a bit better.

This morning while driving The Boy to his super fantastic preschool {I love his school!}, I slowed down to allow another car to get into traffic in front of me. This may seem like a small and insignificant thing, which it did to me, but I’m sure the person was grateful. How many times have you sat for what feels like an eternity wondering and hoping that someone will let you in?!

Earlier this year, I posted on my blog’s Facebook page that I would be sending a few little Random Acts of Kindness packages out to five lucky fans! I almost have the first round of packages complete. It feels so good to know that I’m doing something to surprise others. I mean, everyone likes happy mail!

I’m feeling so generous, that I’m going to do the same for one of you! Leave a comment below answering the question: “What was your most recent Random Act of Kindness?” and I’ll use Random.org to select the lucky recipient. Be sure your email is visible on your blog, so that I have a way to reach out to you if you’re the winner. {I’ll be in touch to obtain your mailing address!} The Random Act of Kindness giveaway will run through Friday, March 8 at 12pm EST.

If I’ve inspired you to share your recent Random Act of Kindness, be sure to join me at the 31 Day Blog Challenge – March Edition hosted by Fabulous Finds by Tiffany. 1. Thanks for visiting me today. I don’t share my own random acts of kindness. Then I just feel like I am bragging. But I love to read what others are doing. I, too, like to let others in line in front of me when I am driving. Sometimes road rage can be an awful thing. Have a super day

    • It does feel a bit like bragging, but I’m hoping that it will encourage a few people to do something nice!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. If your generator picks me, pick again! I just wanted to comment on your post. You’re such a kind person! I’m sure the people who have their day brightened by you never forget your kindness!

  3. I don’t think of sharing as bragging. I think of it as encouraging people to also do the acts. From reading the other blogs, I now have some new ideas on more random acts. And I agree, I make a conscious decision to be nice to others. They may see them as random, but I don’t.

    • The more we talk about what we’re doing for others, the more that it inspires others to do the same!

  4. Hey Emily,

I think you are great for sharing. I think it encourages people to think about doing something positive for others. I think It’s about being a decent human being. We are supposed to be kind to everyone. I don’t know what driving is like where you live, but for me, where I live – it’s crazy. People are typically cutting in front of me and blowing at me – so I would totally appreciate some kindness in that area.

I know this sounds super lame, but my greatest gifts of kindness are directed to my husband Sometimes he can be so crazy – it’s a gift that I remain kind to him. Hahaha!

Besides my husband, my last act of kindness was bringing someone food who was in need.

  6. I can’t stand waiting in line, especially at Walmart. Yet, everytime I see someone behind me with less items than I have, I let them go ahead of me. The smile on their face means the world to me!
