Do you have a child starting kindergarten this year? The Boy will be a full-fledged big kid on Tuesday, September 2. He’ll be 1874 days old on his first day of Kindergarten. I wonder, is that too young? Just the right age? Either way, he’s going. Whether I am ready or not.
I know that I’m not alone, that my son isn’t the first child to head off into the real world. More importantly, I know that I am not the only mom to send her baby to Kindergarten this year. That’s why I decided to create this back to school survival kit for moms. While it’s designed as a distraction for Kindergarten moms, this would be a great gift for moms of kids of all ages.
To create a back to school survival kit, I gathered items that would be not only relaxing and distracting, but would also serve a purpose. Perfect things to include are a fun new lip color, tissues for drying those tears, a small sampling of my favorite tea, a collection of fruit and nut bars because certainly breakfast for mom will have been forgotten on the first day of school, an inspiring book, and a cute new clutch to stuff it all into.
This summer, I’ve been swooning over these great lip colors, the color goes on effortlessly and has great staying power. Perfect for kissing your baby goodbye at the classroom door. Choke back those tears, Mom. You can do this. You can make it to the car without crying.
Once you close the door, let those tears flow because you’ve got a package of tissues at the ready. Know that today you’re saying goodbye to your baby; but hello to a new exciting chapter in his life. You’ve done your best these last 1874 or so days; he’s ready.
It’s time to start focusing on yourself. I mean really focusing on yourself. From getting more exercise, to drinking more water, to chasing your dreams, and eating better. That’s where these delicious Taste of Nature Fruit and Nut bars come in. There are six mouth-watering flavors to choose from: Brazilian Nut Festival, California Almond Valley, Quebec Cranberry Carnival, Canadian Maple Forest, Himalayan Goji Summit, and Persian Pomegranate Garden. They’re packed with real ingredients so they taste good! You can find them at Pemberton Farms, Dave’s Marketplace, and other fine retailers.
Let’s talk a bit more about this bars, shall we? They’re affordable, at just $1.99 a bar, they’re great for breakfast or a mid-day snack.
While my primary job for nearly 2000 days has been to care and teach The Boy, it hasn’t come with underhanded comments. After reading Thrive, I feel inspired to live my life on my own terms. I don’t need to find a “real job” to fit the mold that others have for me. I am carving my own path, focusing on living my life in an authentic and fulfilling way for me.
I hope that by passing this back to school survival kit along to a fellow mom, that she’ll feel confident in her choices. That she’ll know she IS doing a great job. That it IS okay to find her own place to stand. That she CAN thrive and live her life as she sees fit.
One important chapter of her life has closed every so slightly, but there is still more, so much more, to do, to be, to see!
Who would you gift this back to school survival kit for moms to?
