When I started working from home, I began spending way too much time sitting down. Staying healthy while working from home has been a focus of mine for the last few years. I hope the tips I’m sharing below will help you stay healthy while working from home too!
Schedule regular breaks. The funny thing about working from home is that it is easy to not take a break. Get up from your desk and take a brisk walk around your house. If you have a dog, grab the leash and head outside a few times each day. When working to meet a deadline, moving sometimes slips my mind. I wear an Apple Watch daily which vibrates on my wrist to remind me to move each hour.
Stay hydrated. Remember when you’d meet your coworkers at the water cooler and chat? You probably didn’t realize but you were drinking a lot of water then! At home, you may forget to fill up your cup as often. Make one of these motivational water bottles or invest in a smart water bottle that sends reminders to your smartphone.
Walk Upstairs. This may sound crazy, but I walk upstairs several times a day. My home office is on our main level, to get a few extra steps, I walk upstairs. While I am upstairs, I may grab a basket of laundry or use the restroom.
Check your posture. Are you sitting up straight right now? Stop rolling your shoulders and slouching in your chair. Pay attention to your posture throughout the day.
Eat a Healthy Lunch. Eating a healthy lunch while working from home is a fairly easy task. Prepare a batch of Tortellini Pasta Salad or Greek Yogurt Pesto Chicken Pasta. Having great tasting options ready to go for lunch will keep your hands out of the cookie jar!
